Which Cruise to Choose: Top Reasons to Upgrade to Luxury

Whether you’re a frequent cruiser or a newbie to the whole thing, what would make you upgrade
from a standard ship to one oozing luxury and exuberance? Liners like the Brilliance of the Seas by
RCL Cruises offer beautiful surroundings and plenty of style, giving passengers a taste of what luxury
grade cruising can really be like. But what would make you take the plunge and invest that little extra
in your dream cruise? Here are some of the best reasons:

The Accommodation – Fairly obviously, upgrading to a luxury cruise will give you access
to cabins beyond your wildest dreams. With luxury sails, you’re pretty much guaranteed an
outside suite rather than an inside berth, which provides the ultimate in comfort and plenty of
opportunity to enjoy the scenery as you sail. Even the standard cabins are bound to be kitted
out in the finest soft furnishings, making it feel a home from home.

Attention to Detail – The little extras that you would compromise on with a basic cruise,
such as separate bath and shower facilities, twin basins or toiletries in your bathroom, pretty
much come as standard with a luxury liner.

No Tipping – Although many guests don’t mind providing a tip to the staff at the end of the
sail, with luxury cruises it’s often disregarded completely as being just part of the service. The
crew won’t hassle you either – probably because they get paid more to guarantee their super
service.

Ports of Call – Chances are that with luxury liners, come luxurious itineraries, including
lesser known, more distinguished ports that are, on the whole, less crowded and therefore,
more relaxing.

The Social Aspect – With luxury, smaller ships comes more chance to socialise with guests
and see them again during the trip, rather than sacrificing that fun social aspect in favour of a
giant cruiseliner.

Check out the luxury liners that operate from the UK, including RCL cruises and other glamorous
lines, and start planning your dream cruise vacation, today.

Good Travellers Are Great Shoppers!

Do you have this tendency of Shopping something every time you visit a place? Well, most women have the urge for the same. Women, most of the time love to live in memories that are generally reminded by gifts and things that are bought by them.

If Paris and Milan are great destinations to shop for branded and exclusive souvenirs then India is best to purchase handmade, organic and handicraft items.

A female traveller always likes to purchase a piece of item that is popular and authentic of that place like Jades are famous in South East Asia and Moonstones in Sri Lanka. Painting and Carving art in Indonesia/China/India, Dubai Gold and South African Diamonds.

Men might feel how materialistic women are but the truth is that that it is not about expensive gifts but gifts that remind the time of togetherness. Sometimes even a rare flower or a chocolate would do.

In our recent trip to Bangalore, I found this beautiful jewel box in a handicraft exhibition of Chitrakala Parishat. It has five drawers and is made of red wood. A simple Yellow and Green pattern on drawers add to the beauty of the chest.

I just love the drawer holder, it is cute and nice to use. I paid about 2000 INR and got 500 off.

My liking for earrings and bracelets has led to an overflowing collection and this allows me to segregate accessories easily. The chest is also a good home decor element.

Travellers have an added advantage of judging the approximate prices of shopping items. They even get to become good bargainers and communicators. For this reason, Men need to travel a lot more with partners. Women, then, will buy only if they manage to convince the seller with their bid.

Women who travel more often would learn the art of talking, get more humble, smart, tricky and value life more than ever.

All 'committed' men out there, give a thought, travel more and more. Love travel and your love will love you in your journey of life.

What Is Your Travel Philosophy?

We all have a certain way of looking at things in life. Does travel change all that? The word ‘philosophy’ has many definitions in the dictionary. Many people may offer more definitions to it. Your travel philosophy may include your beliefs about travel, the process of moving out to see a new place and perhaps some expectation management. There is a lot to choose from and it may depend on one’s objective of travel, traveling style and such. Now, having said that, having one’s own philosophy of travel is not a necessity, it is something one has, innately and it may surface on one of your sojourns.

So what am I trying to put across here? That having our own philosophy which works for us on many levels helps us respond to many questions including the all important one “what do we really want?” and to sound a little unselfish “what can we offer?” or “am I a tourist or a traveler?” or “are tourists and travelers different?” and the list can go on. So what about people who have no questions at all to be answered?? Also good I think, to simply travel for travel’s sake. In a weird sort of way, that too is some kind of a travel philosophy.

So there are lots of ways to travel and perhaps more reasons to go with it. None of my friends travel the same way I do. I like a bit of comfort in my trips. I like a good bed, a decent loo and comfortable (maybe not fashionable) clothes and shoes. But I know people who lug about more than necessary baggage & have a great time and I also know people who travel with less than bare minimum comforts and have an equally good time. I’d like to spend time with a local family and have lunch and dinner with them, pray or go shopping with them in an effort to learn and understand the local culture. Someone else may want to visit all the historical sites with the same purpose in mind. And that is the best thing about travel. There is no ‘one’ way to do it. And there is no right or wrong way to do it. As long as you are not crossing the line & treading into somebody else’s ‘happy place’ or sensitivities, any way is the right way.

But then, this is just one person’s musings. All these questions & answers affect what one would enjoy in travel. I, for one have a lot more to discover and am looking forward to it.

Happy travels!

How To Make Travelling Fun?

On road trips, very frequently we hear people crib about travel – duration, comfort, food and so on making the journey of fellow traveler torturous and also spoiling the fun.  They would not have even realized this and already been tagged as a mojo buster by others, tolerated by family and mocked by rest of the world. Many may even think twice about travelling with such people. If you have a sneaky suspicion that you may be one such person then you can still be saved. Pick up any or all of the below tricks and allow yourself to enjoy and be good company to your fellow passengers:

Plan a proper attire - only when we are comfortable we can relax. Dress simple and casual like trousers and tee. Avoid tight clothes and heavy accessories. Look good and feel good.

Eat lite eat often – Don’t stuff yourself with heavy or oily food before travelling. Eat light and carry lots of chocolates, wafers, baked chips, veggies, fruits to eat along the way. Don’t hesitate to share the goodies.

Look around, click snaps – the world is beautiful. It has a lot of visual delights to entertain you. Capture them in your eyes, hearts and cameras forever. This will give to lots of topics to converse too.

Carry some fun music – playing music is a great way to pass time and also prevents people from dozing off. Carry headphones and portable music player in case your choice of music doesn’t match with tempo of the group.

Play or organize some travel games- karaoke, sing along, word games, I spy, 20 questions…. are all great games to keep oneself and travel companions entertained.

Be a navigator – time to take some initiative. If you feel you have a good sense of direction then pick up a map and select the best route. Also in case of heavy traffic or roads under repair you can redirect the journey and save lots of time for all.

Take the wheel – driving gives a huge adrenaline rush and believe me it can drive all your travel blues away. Also it’s a life saver if you are prone to motion sickness.

Move around, Take breaks – coffee breaks, juice breaks are often a good idea. It gives opportunity to move about the car and stretch your legs. While you are at it move around, maybe even swap your seats with others to spice things up.

Always remember vacation doesn't start on reaching the destination, journey is part of going on vacation. So enjoy planning, travel and the destination.   Hope these mantras help you be more fun, have more fun and get you many more invitations to travel.
