Milford Sound, New Zealand's Heaven

Have you seen heaven on Earth? Well, I can proudly say that I have and will surely share the address. The paradise is Milford Sound in New Zealand. The world heritage site was formed by glacier movements. It extends upto 15 kms from Tasman sea to the land and is guarded by series of mountains. (Photos By: Deepthi Kiran)

What makes Milford Sound a heaven on Earth?
The rainfall that occurs 200 days a year creates a number of waterfalls from mountains. The UNESCO site is a rich habitat of marine life. There are many dolphins, seals and penguins in the region.

What is so special about the water?
The river has two layers, one, the salty sea water beneath and the other fresh rain water on top of it. Since the river is too deep and the light doesn't penetrate, the flora and fauna life is sound and safe.

How to reach this heaven?
From Queenstown, you can drive to Milford Sound and travel past the mirror lakes, moss, ferns and Homer Tunnel (1200 m long). Boat trips can take you even closer to the island.

Any Adventure?
Yes, there is helicopter flight to take a view from the top. Hiking is also another popular adventure (is restricted from October to April).

Truly the 8th natural wonder of the world!
