Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala

Surprisingly, many wildlife sanctuaries are just a few hours away from Bangalore. Ranganathittu, Taavare Bellur bird sanctuaries, Bandipur and Nagarahole wildlife, Mudumalai and Wayanad wildlife are comparatively close to the Karnataka's capital than any other Indian cities.

Bangalore is a heaven for weekend travellers as there are many historical, wildlife and waterfall attractions around. Recently, our Bangalore cousins visited the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (Tholpetty Range) where they stayed in the Wayanad Jungle Retreat resorts (Machan).

At Wayanad, you can see Elephants, Bisons, Deers, Lemurs and many more unseen creatures. For photographers, this is a favourite den. Here are some photos of the visit. (Courtesy: Anuradha Sachidev)

Munnar Travel - Driver's Paradise!

If you love twisty roads, be it in your car or on your bike, then, check out my favorite destination MUNNAR, in south India!

My Verna was just a month old & I really wanted to see how it would perform on the highway & during my favorite twists and turns!

So we decided to drive to Munnar, a 450km drive on the superb roads in the South!

Started at around 7am & didn't want to speed too much, as my car was still new!

The Salem-Erode 4-lane road was getting constructed and there were many patches of single lanes with long queues of huge trucks! This was the time to really have fun with the torque & turbo! Just cruising in 3rd gear and the smallest gap, open the throttle to overtake not just 1, 2, 3.... trucks at once! What a bliss, was it to open the turbo! We reached erode & drove via Udulmalpettai!

Most interesting places:

Trek to Sita Devi lake, Devikulam

Fast & Thrilling boat ride in Mattupetti rain water dam

Luxurious stay in Club Mahindra

Sunset times & greenery!

On the way, you can also spot wild elephants in  Eravikkulam National park area

Do not miss, Echo point!

If you have time, you can also drive to Attirapalley water fall, called as The Soth Indian Niagara, which is around 120km from Munnar:
